At Tradermate, we specialise in bookkeeping for tradespeople in West Sussex and beyond. However, we’re about so much more than keeping the books. We offer a range of services to support your growing business. We back things up with regular articles right here on our Knowledge Hub, sharing practical tips you can implement. Like everything we do, we’ll keep these jargon-free! Read on for this week’s top tips!
Three tips to help you find business success:
Because we don’t only do bookkeeping for tradespeople…
1: You might have heard ‘Strategic Thinking’ – Jargon-free, we say ‘Start at the End’:
Think about the bigger picture and what you want to achieve. As a result, you will more likely reach your goals!
If you set out to make £500 a week, chances are you’ll make £500 a week, and that’s it. However, if you want to build a business that gives you additional income, maybe even money to invest in something else, then plan for it.
Would you like to sell your business in a few years? Or would you like to spend less time working and more on other things? Would you like a company to pass on to your children? By considering all these things and deciding what you want from your business, you can start taking action to make it happen.
2: You might have heard ‘Time Optimisation’ – Jargon-free, we say ‘Value your Time’:
Do you know how valuable an hour of your time is? Take the average job price, divide by the number of hours it takes, and that’s the value of your working hours.
Then think about all the other activities you do within your business that take time – like cleaning the office, managing your bookkeeping, and all your admin. If you can earn more in an hour than it would cost to outsource some of those activities, consider getting help with them.
A vast range of businesses are designed to support you with yours.
3: You might have heard ‘Strategic Planning’ – Jargon-free, we say ‘Plan for Success’:
Do you spend time procrastinating or find yourself doing the same thing more than once? Do you have a huge ‘to-do’ list you don’t get to?
Planning your diary is a great way to become more efficient and build great habits. Take a few minutes at the end of each week to plan the week ahead. That way, you start the week focused and ready to get the job done.
